Do You Feel Like I Do?

Okay, this is so basic.  Remedial, really, or at least it should be, but it's what's on my mind, so here it is.

What makes you happy might not make me happy.  What makes me happy might not make you happy.  I NEED to be happy.  You might feel that way too.  Or maybe you don't.  Maybe for you, life is all about suffering and accepting.  I don't feel that way.  I feel like life ought to be happy and if it isn't, it's UP TO ME to make it so.

What makes you happy might not make me happy.  Not everyone gets their happy on from the same thing.

I know what makes me happy.  You might not understand it, or understand why it makes me happy.  You might not understand why what makes YOU happy DOESN'T make me happy.  You don't have to understand it.  You just have to accept it.  Or go away.  You choose.

That's what makes the world a beautiful place, man.

C'est tout dire.

Hey, have you ever read this book or this one?

Hi Chris! Nope, I've read neither of those books. Sadly, I'm in the middle of at least five books right now and can't seem to find the enough down time to finish even one. Between kids and the business (mostly the business....)

I miss reading. I'm going to work reading time into my days.

Only five? You slacker! I started doing a thing in the last couple years where I would stack up all my "To Read" pile every so often and take a picture of it to email to people, hoping that it would help shame me into paring it down.

Needless to say, I've just learned to live with the shame. I'm still in the double-digits, and I'm always finding something new to add to the mountain. But I don't mind, it gives me a little something to always look forward to. Nice problem to have.

(I really love the Jennifer Hecht book. She would be so much fun to have a conversation with. The cerebral energy is so infectious, I almost get a caffeine buzz just from reading her. And her blog is pretty cool too.)

But yeah, good luck finding the time. If only we could get paid to sit around and read...
