Stop By Anytime { I'm Homesick for VA }

This is my friend Devon Sproule (and her hubster, Paul Curreri) playing on a British tv show.  I'm so glad it was this song.  I love this song.  It conjures up images of living in Virginia.  When I move back, stop by anytime.

Photo Yammering

'Kayso, i don't wanna post anything else but VA portrait sessions on my photog blog until i get all the VA photos edited and posted, but i was just playing with a photo i made behind Wen McNally's studio (who's Wen?  Click to see her website, and to see her as a huge part of my growing up, click Proof of My Existence over there on the right under Crapstain Faves, or whatever it says -->).  Wen is a photographer in the woods north of Fredericksburg, VA.  She is amazing and wonderful, not just as a photographer, but as a friend.  And she's fricking hilarious.  She has the same sense of humour now that she had growing up and i could cry telling you how happy that makes me.  Seriously, she's a goofball in the smart and witty way.  My fave!

So, one of the times i went to visit and play, Wen had Sean (her hubster) haul her studio lights out into the woods behind the studio.  And here is one of the photos i made that evening.

Click it to see it biggah.

Missing Home

The other night, my SIL (hi Lis) mentioned one of my old Facebook posts I made in VA.  It was the day my momma made me fried green tomatoes.  I came home from a run and there they were--still hot, piled on a plate waiting for me.  And they were goooooo o o o o oooood.  NOBODY can make fried green tomatoes like my momma can!  And don't get me started on the chipped beef gravy (which i ate without bread, ha!).

Oh Virginia!  As i edit the portraits i made there, my heart weeps for you.  Can't i be two places at once?

east coast bliggidy - surprise attack

Last night Todd and I dropped in unannounced at my friend Angie's house. I wanted to surprise her. She was gracious enough to let us into her beautiful home to chat with her sweet family for a while. It was so cool seeing her boys in person (I see pics and stuff on Facebook)and meet Alan.

The funniest thing was that when we pulled into the driveway, Allie had to reeeeally pee (hello high blood sugar) and she started running back and forth in the yard like a confused, rabid fox. That's what Angie opened the door to. She asked what Allie was doing. I said she had to pee. Angie led her to the bathroom. That little scene just cracks me up to think of it.

I'm Cold. But Not THAT Cold.

.
If you have the great misfortune of being in my close circle of friends, you've probably had the great privilege of enduring my whiney contemplations about moving back to Virginia.  Being not the most patient, let-it-all-unfold type, I've been pushing myself (and Todd) for an answer: stay or go.  We've done the Pro/Cons list, assessed the risks, drilled the kids (to see how much therapy they'll need after moving them across the country for the 4th time), and still have no definitive answer.  Plus, I've been cold to the point of hibernation the last couple weeks, so I'm not even enjoying this 70-degree Arizona winter, so why be here?  So, this morning I turned to what has always helped clear my head:  photographs.  And I came across this photograph of me, taken by Todd on a trip to Virginia in December of 2005:

Arizona's looking better and better all the time.

A (Chilly) Blast From the Past

It's fun every now and again to look at old photos. These are from our Christmas visit to Virginia in 2004. We were driving along Skyline Drive (from the Rt. 33 entrance west of Stanardsville, I think we went north, but can't remember) and saw these huge ice formations on the side of the road. They were so beautiful!
