The Birthday Celebration - Yes, I Owned It.

1.  Lo Lo's Chicken and Waffles with some of my favorite people on this here planet.  Mish, Swan, John, Todd...thank you.  Swan, thank you extra for being you.  You are my favorite!  (Sorry, guys).  Your commentary on Scottsdale Snookie will go down in the halls of greatness.

2.  Olive & Ivy...beautiful bar.  Stunning, really.  The dj played MGMT Kids for me.  And totally surprised us with Tegan and Sara.

3.  Martini Ranch.  I owned it.  Both dance floors, the band, the go-go dancer.  (Todd, nice job with the 5-spot!  Watching that belt hit the floor was definitely one of my favorite moments; and John, you definitely owned your 5'er too!  And you both danced!  I'm so proud!  Then again, good luck NOT dancing when i'm in the mix.  WHAT!)

4.  Undeniable sadness.  Something was missing.  But that's okay.  Life is beautiful that way.  It really is.

Happy Birthday to Me! I Live in a...Tree! (I'm Using the F Word Here, in Case You Need to Shield Your Clean Brain from It)

Or, i might as well.  But anyway...i just wanted to share this awesome card from my friend Chris: (click it if you can't see it all in my tiny blog space)

Yeah, baby!

So, yeah, happy birthday to me.  I see more piercings and ink in my very near future.  Rock on, mother fuckers!

Forty OH! Forty!

I turned 40 yesterday.  It's weird.  I've been wondering for the past several years how I'd feel about this event.  At first I was looking forward to it.  Then, not so much.  Now that it's here?  I'm not sure yet.  I'll need to give it a few days (or weeks, or months) to get the feel of it.

I do know it feels different physically.  I mean, not all of a sudden.  I didn't wake up yesterday morning wondering where the "thickness" in my body came from.  It's been settling in slowly over the past few years.  Looks like it's here to stay.  And guess what?  I don't care!  And guess what else?  It feels good to not care!

I haven't figured out what 40 symbolizes to me, and it's important that I do.  Thirty symbolized the beginning of finally getting a few things figured out in my life (like relationships).  Thirty was good.  I don't know what 40 means to me just yet.  I hope it's something wonderful!

.

Saturday was Bryce's 3rd birthday! Todd was on call and had to work alllll day (suckage!) but Bryce waited patiently for his birthday party that evening. He got a blow-up pool (hehe...cute), a tricycle (also cute and old-timey) and other random things. We pigged out on cake, ice cream and pizza. It was a happy day! I love you, my smoochable cuteness!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I love birthdays! They are just so fun, even if we do nothing at all. I have no idea why I love b.days so much, but there ya go!

Look what my cute kids got me:

They know me too well! I'm the ultimate Hello Kitty freak. Heeeeeeeeey, I lived in Japan for two years...that's my excuse!

Happy Birthday, Allie!

Allie turned 15 today!

15!

She avoided my dozens of attempts to get a picture of her in her new silver pants and black ballet tutu, haha, but I got her holding my Japanese Black Black Gum!

I think Al had a good birthday. Last night, she chose The Cheesecake Factory for her birthday dinner. It was a fun night. Today we hung out together all day at home and Todd made cupcakes (I'm making an ice cream cake for her sleepover party next weekend).

I love you, Cheeky Cheese! Happy Birthday!

Big smooch from Mother Pony!

Happy Birthday Bryce!

Friday was Bryce's birthday! He's now 2 years old; I guess I should stop calling him my "baby." And I suppose weaning is in the very near future, although I don't think either one of us is completely ready for that. I did stop him from nursing at night; 2 years without a full night's sleep was making me a bit wonkier than usual.

Thursday night, we had a special task to accomplish. Todd had to put together a train table and I had to put the tracks together, all while keeping Bryce away from it.

Then Friday morning, Bryce helped me make cake batter. As you can see, he was the taste tester. He also cleaned the spatula for me, haha.

Once Allie, Zane and Todd were home Friday evening, we had a little family party for Bryce with yummy home-made pizza, cake and ice cream. Then Bryce got to open presents! We got him a couple of books (he looooves books, don't know where he gets that from, haha)... and a wooden puzzle with various modes of transportation (his favorite things...cars, trucks, airplanes, etc.).

Then it was time for the grand finale! Bryce was sort of dumb-struck when he walked into his room and saw a big wrapped up heap on the floor. He pulled the wrapping paper off and stared at the train table for a minute before starting to play. He's disassembled the tracks a couple times already, and it's not easy to get them to fit back together with the Knapford Station integrated in there. Lots of work for mom! But so fun to watch Bryce play with this; every time we go to Barnes & Noble or his doctor, both of which have the train set, it's hard to pull him away. Now he has his own! This morning when Todd took Bryce into his room to change his diaper (yes, he still sleeps with us; I know, we're the biggest push-overs in the Universe), Bryce looked at the train set and squeeled and started kicking as though he had forgotten it was real...it could've all just been a really cool dream!
