I Have Met the Devil

He is here in the form of Clusterfluff ice cream.  Ben & Jerry are his minions. I'm not usually a big fan of peanut butter (i look at it and all i can think is "aflatoxin" which takes the fun out of it), but this ice cream is worth ruining my waistline over.  Peanut butter ice cream with caramel cluster pieces (i also don't like caramel, but they've done some crazy magic voodoo on it in here and it's hellishly good), marshmallow swirls and peanut butt swirls.  Helloooooo Kitty!

Still Recovering from Vegas

Wish i could say more about that.

Anyway...i met and hung out with some of the most amazing and talented photographers in the country and caught up with old friends.

aaaaand i lost a couple more lbs in Vegas.  Down to 104 and feeling (and looking) more like myself again.  At least until Thanksgiving....

Chocolate Orgasm

So i'm like, doing the low-carb thing again, cuz like, my pants don't like, fit, and so like, i lost a pound the first day.  And so i'm, like, eating some chicken and guacamole and Greek yogurt right now with some cashews, like, thrown in the mix for a little, like, crunch.

And i'm like, NOT thinking about chocolate.  Like, not at all.  Chocolate?  What's that?  I don't even know what that is.  That brown stuff?  That looks like, like, something that came out of a sheep's butt?  And smells like it, too? 

Okay, no, it doesn't look or smell like sheep excrement.  It's yummy and divine and makes me want to (almost) believe there's a god, and the mouth-feel...ooooh that creamy, smooth texture (you won't know of what i speak if all you've ever had is cheap chocolate, sorry) and the little burst of endorphins that wash over me as i take that first bite, like my whole body, my whole being just basking in the euphoria, the floaty, happy feeling of...mmmmmmmm, chocolate. 

No, i don't miss it at all.

Oh holy hell on a kaiser roll, how am i going to do this?

A Christmas Miracle

Kayso, my weight fluctuates like the tide.  In, out, up, down...bigger pants, smaller pants, bigger bra, smaller bra.  And it's never the same twice.  One gained pound could go to the boobs one week, then be lost, only to show up later in my cheeks and neck or, more often, around the middle. 

This week, however, the excess weight i've gained from enjoying homemade eggnog (Southern Comfort style), chocolate in excess, and lots of In N Out Burger (hey, my kid was in the hospital for 13 days.  What.) has miraculously gone to my ass!  My pancake ass is sporting a little whipped cream for the first time in it's LIFE!  And i like it!  I'm filling out the back of my jeans!  I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, because i know from years of experience that it's going to morph it's way up to my gut again by midnight. 

Three cheers for my plump Christmas-Miracle Ass.

103.5 / Slow Going

I know i'm only starting Day 4 of weight loss and i've lost 2.5 lbs., but it seems to be taking so long to lose weight this go round. I know that's silly, and that i'm being spoiled and impatient, but damn! I just want to get there, be there, stay there for a minute and move on. I'm not enjoying the process this time like i did the first time. I had more to lose that time and i had a very clear goal--i wanted to look good in Virginia. Hehe! Now, meh. I don't so much care. I need a goal.

So, that's my goal for today: find my reason for losing the spare tire.

104 lbs / Day Two SUCKS It! { and Wear Purple Today! }

Shew!  I had forgotten how miserable day 2 off sugar is for me.  I am a tried and true sugar addict and getting off the smack is really painful for me.  Day 2, for some reason, is always the worst.  I suffered yesterday, wanting chocolate and cake and ice cream.  GAH! 

I seriously contemplated just caving in, saying F*#! it and eating sugar.  I alllllmost got to a place in my head where i didn't care if i was puffy with carb-bloat (carbs make me retain water like mad) or if my gut hangs over my pants.  Then i sighed, planted my feet, and decided i'm not quite ready to have a closet full of mumu's.  Yet. 

To compensate (and comfort myself), i ate about 150 more calories (healthy food) than i normally would while losing weight.  Hence, only losing 1/2 lb in the last 24 hours.  Still, that's nothing to bark at.  I'll take it.

I'm not exercising during this round of weight loss.  No particular reason, just laziness.  Plus, exercise isn't necessary to lose weight with SPEED.  Gotta love that!

On another note:  today, in honor and remembrance of kids (and adults) everywhere who have taken their lives because they were bullied for being gay (or being perceived as gay), please wear purple, which stands for "spirit" on the rainbow flag. 

To those of you who believe gay people CHOOSE to be gay and continue putting that idea out there and CAUSE BULLYING because of the beliefs you try to force on the rest of the world:  SHAME ON YOU.

Sadly, there are people in this great country who feel that gay people shouldn't have the right to pursue happiness, again attempting to force THEIR beliefs on the rest of humanity.  How very, very tragic.

106 lbs (104.5) / 22.2% { and multi-Bryce Extravaganza }

'Kayso, i go through phases where i'm in such a celebratory mood that i do just that--celebrate!  Daily!  And how do we Americans celebrate?  With food (and drink, but mostly food)!  Especially sugar!  Wheeeeeee! 

So, long story short:  I fell off the low-carb wagon for a month or so (okay, maybe even 2), gained 4 jiggly, clothes-tightening lbs., and decided that's enough. 

I climbed (bitching and complaining) back onto the ole low-carb wagon and IN ONE DAY am down to:

104.5 lbs. 

Yep, i'm down a lb and a half in one day.

And in other news...Bryce was sitting on my lap yesterday looking at old pics on Facebook and he came across a multi-shot of Todd sitting on the couch.  "Ooooo three daddies!" he exclaimed.  I asked him if he wanted a 3-Bryce photo and he jumped off my lap and planted himself on the couch, sitting and waiting quiet as a hamster while i got my gear ready.  That little monkey just cracks me up.  We ended up doing a 4-Bryce photo:

The Carb Experiment

For a week or so, i've been allowing a few more carbs into my diet.  It started with potatoes.  That seemed to go okay, so I let some simple carbs slip through, in the form of candy corn (blast!) and carrot cake.  { Sidenote:  i will take a good, properly done carrot cake over any other cake, any day of the week.  It must contain pineapple chunks, golden raisins, lot of shredded coconut, and pecans.  The cream cheese frosting must be extra thick and creamy. }

My body fat percentage is at 19.0% this morning, but my weight is up to 103.5--and i feel it.  My shorts are definitely tighter, and not in the good junk-in-the-trunk kinda way.  I'm retaining water.  I feel like shit.

Part of that is probably minnow paws (that just sounds so much cuter than the devil menopause, so bear with me), which is still kicking my ass.  I hope i'm feeling more myself by this Sunday, when i leave for Portland for a fun photog field trip (complete with food-and-beverage debauchery at it's finest).  Ayeayeayeayeayeayeaye.

Dunkin Donuts...Get Your Heads Outta Your Asses!

Okay, it's a double-post kind of day, because it was an eye-rolling kind of morning.

In celebration of The First Day of School (and first day of high school for my son), I took the kiddies to Dunkin Donuts before school.  As we perused the menu, I noticed the most assinine menu choices you could possibly imagine.  All thier "food" items are LOW FAT.  So, here ya go...have some unnatural foods like reduced-fat muffins (with tons of carbs by way of sugar and flour...which are what make you fat and not actual fat itself) and some nice sugared-up coffee (which makes you fat).  Have some egg-whites on a croissant, NEVER MIND that egg yolks DON'T MAKE YOU FAT but the CROISSANT DOES!

Fat-free Ignorance

I used to be one of those sheep who believed the media when they said fat is bad for you, fat makes you fat, blah blah blah.  Do you remember life before low-fat, "reduced" fat or fat-free food products crowded the shelves?  I do.  And I remember when i started noticing the fat-molested products.  Since they were placed so boldly on the shelves, there must've been something to the whole FAT IS BAD thing, right?  If that were true, why did Americans continue to gain weight after the onslaught of lowered-fat foods?  Why is obesity an epidemic in America? 

It's CARBS people, for cripes' sake! 

I know this is a hard concept.  It requires de-sheeping your brain, but come on, say it with me:

FAT DOESN'T MAKE YOU FAT.  CARBS MAKE YOU FAT.

And if you're a chronic overeater, you're going to be fat anyway, unless you're somehow working out enough to keep it all off (unlikely).

LOWFAT FOODS ARE NOT SATISFYING, so what will you do?  That's right, EAT MORE.  GAH!

This is me.  I eat A LOT of fat (way more fat than protein or carbs).  I eat adequate protein.  I eat very few carbs.  Let me reiterate.  I EAT A LOT OF FAT!  Yes, it's healthy fat, from avocados, cheese, WHOLE milk cheese and cottage cheese...NOT low-fat crap.  I. Eat. A. Lot. Of. Fat.  I just want you to understand it.  I really do. 



Watch what this doctor/researcher is saying.  He's onto something!  I think he's still got some things to figure out, but he's sure got sugar in the bag!

100.5 lbs / 19.0% I'm Baaaaaaaaack!

I'm pretty surprised to find I've lost weight and body fat during my 5 weeks of debauchery in Virginia.  I did a lot of partying, but i also did a lot of eating right and running.  I didn't eat out as much as i thought i would, and when i did, i somewhat behaved (hehe).  X Lounge is my new favorite diggs in Hooville.  Good people, good food, excellent drinks, comfy couches, dance floor.

102 / 20.2 % Virginia Bound!

My goal was to reach 19% body fat by the time I left for VA.  I have 2 days to get from 20.2 to 19 (point ANYTHING).  Can I do it?  Oh, yes I can.  Oh, yes I will.  Watch and see.

...with a little help from my friends. 

I will be air travelling with a 4-year-old on Saturday.  I'm scared.

102.5 lbs. / 21.9% and Fighting for Yourself

I have to admit that it slightly bugs me that my weight hasn't gone down in the past couple days (it went up half a lb.), but realistically, it's the body fat that matters, and that's still dropping.  And I doooooooo want more muscle, so the weight going up is actually a good thing.  If I were to end up at 105 / 19%, I would be completely cool with that.

Last night i saw a quote that i had posted on my facebook status earlier this month:

102 lbs. - Reached My Goal Weight...But Wait....

When i started my weight loss endeavour 4 and a half weeks ago at 113 lbs (and approx. 28% or so body fat), i set my goal weight at 102 lbs.  I'm really not sure why.  One-OH!-two is actually a couple lbs heavier than my average adult lifetime "normal" weight (which was always 100 lbs.).  So, I'm not done.  Not by a long stretch.  My goal is more oriented toward body fat.  I want to be 19% (I'm at 22%) and I want to be there by the time I leave for Virginia (39 days).  I will do that by continuing to follow S.P.E.E.D. and incorporating one more day of workouts into my week (from 3 or 4 to 4 or 5).

103.5 / 22.8% and iRandomosities

Good workout last night.  I'm getting a Droid today.  I'm working out tonight.  Todd and I are having date night tonite.  We're going to see Date Night (the movie).  I freaking love Tina Fey.  I need a haircut.  I now fit into my favorite size 1 Volcom shorts that I saved, despite thinking I would never fit into them again.  I have a love/hate relationship with bipolar II.  I really want to go to LA this weekend (not happening).  If i keep waking up before 5 i'm going to do something drastic.  Maybe.  I freaking love TJ Maxx.  And Hello Kitty.  It's almost 7 am and i'm ready for bed.

103.5 / 23.0% My Adventures with SPEED and You've Gotta Watch This Video!

Oh come on, I'm talking about the weight loss book, http://www.speedweightlossbook.com/ not the drug.  But you knew that, right?

So I'm down to 103.5 lbs and some of you may be wondering how low I'll go and what is too low.  That differs so greatly from person to person.  For me, somewhere around 100 lbs has been "about right" for most of my life.  I have extremely tiny bones and I'm pretty short.  You can see from my body fat percentage of 23 that I still have plenty of excess junk I can get rid of.  And I will.  I promise I'm not starving or withering away over here. 

Now, seriously, you've gotta watch this video.  It was made by a photog in LA that i sorta kinda worship and will someday go play with.  He's pretty freaking incredible.

104 / 23.4% Decisiolating

Yay...progress!  Had a great workout last night, wasn't exhausted before arriving, Aimes went with (so fun, thanks for going!); more more more!  I think I could go 6 days/week and be completely xstatic about it.  It's like being in the Air Force again, except without all the rules and regulations and trying to hide my purple hair.

Anyway...

My Big Trip to Virginia is fast approaching, and I'm going to need a 3G phone since my moms doesn't have a computer, or internet access, and lives in the middle of the woods in a rural county, and I will need to conduct business primarily over the phone/internet.

So...

Of course, the big question is:  iPhone or Droid?

I've heard negatives about both:  the iPhone wants to be more of a computer than a phone, AT&T's 3G network is way smaller than Verizon's, will never use Flash.  But i do so love my iTouch and it's apps (and iTunes), so....   On the other hand, I've heard the Droid:  hangs up too easily with cheek contact, and the Facebook app doesn't have an INBOX.  Whaaaaat?  I need my Inbox, are they kidding me with no Inbox?  Who can live without an Inbox?  I do a lot of business thru my Inbox.  I really do.

But, then again, if I can't access AT&T's 3G network at my mom's (where i'll be for FIVE LONG WEEKS), I guess I won't really be accessing my inbox anyway, huh? 

Okay, Droid it is.

And what was I thinking, going to VA for 5 weeks, leaving behind all the comforts of home?  VA peeps...I will need your love and support :o)

104.5 / 24.3% (Body Fat)

I'm not sure I trust that 24.3% (I think I'm higher), but we'll go with it.  For now.

So it's Easter and i was at Wholy Foods yesterday, surrounded by yummy temptations.  I came home with a Vosges Sugar-free Barcelona Bar (hickory smoked almonds, sea salt, deep milk chocolate, heaven) and it's not even tempting me.  I also brought home an Amaretto Mousse Bombe (Amaretto...mmmmmmm) and it sits in the fridge, not tempting me at all.  I will probably taste it later just for the experience, but there's no way I'll eat the whole disgusting thing.

What's happened to me?  Better yet,

WHO THE HELL AM I?
